Not too long ago, a person’s first job often lasted a lifetime. But times have changed. Unless you own the store, spending 40 or more years with a single company is pretty much a thing of the past. For whatever reason — downsizing, mergers or reengineering — more and more employees are finding themselves out of work these days. If you’re facing unemployment, don’t panic. It can be a manageable and temporary transition period.
