What To Do If You Suspect Telemarketing Fraud

Here are some steps you can take if you feel you've been a victim of a telemarketing scheme:

  • Contact the NFIC. Call the National Fraud Information Center (NFIC) hotline at 1-800-876-7060. The NFIC will enter your information in a national database and report the case to law enforcement agencies that will investigate and prosecute the case.
  • Contact the FTC. The Federal Trade Commission can be reached at 1-202-FTC-HELP. They can offer practical information about protecting yourself from future scams.
  • Contact the state authorities. You can report the matter to your state's Department of Justice or Attorney General's office.
