| Robert R. Merck is Senior Managing Director and Head of Real Estate Investments at MetLife. He was named to this position on July 1, 2003. In this role, he is responsible for managing the company's commercial mortgage and equity real estate portfolio, as well as its agricultural investments portfolio. In this capacity, Merck manages a staff of 220 investment professionals, both domestic and international.
Merck joined MetLife in 1982 and has served in various capacities in Real Estate Investments. From 1988 to 1992 he was the head of the Charlotte Regional Office and from 1992 to 1996, the Tampa Regional Office for Real Estate Investments. In 1996 Merck was assigned responsibility for Equity Real Estate for the southeast and southwest areas of the country. He was appointed managing director of MetLife's real estate equity portfolio in 2001. In 2004, he assumed responsibility for MetLife’s Agricultural Investments group.
He serves on the Boards of Directors of Metropolitan Realty Management, Inc., Cross & Brown Company, CBNJ Inc., CRB Co. Inc., CRH Co. Inc., L/C Development Corporation, GA Holding Corporation and Metropolitan Tower Realty Company, Inc.
