As their motor skills increase, babies become more and more involved with the world beyond their cribs. They may be able to transfer objects from hand to hand, and make the connection between a toy and the noise it makes. Most babies become fascinated with their feet and put them, along with most everything else, into their mouths.
Your baby may be able to roll over or sit with support at this time. Many babies grow frustrated at this stage because they want to do more than their bodies allow. But while your child may get upset, it’s important that you remain patient.
Safety checks for the fifth and sixth months:
- Be super aware of things in a room that your baby may touch. Check your home for hazards like sharp objects, table edges, medicines and household poisons.
- As your baby starts to become more active, be aware of things he or she may pull down such as table cloths, lamps and drawers.
