We've compiled a list of terms and their definitions to better help you navigate the sometimes confusing world of home insurance.*

Blanket Property Limit (BPL)  - A Blanket Property Limit (BPL) is usually equivalent to the sum of coverage’s we provided for your dwelling, private structures, and personal property. This aggregate amount is available for any partial losses and reduces many of the concerns about coverage limits that are used on traditional homeowners insurance policies.

Coverage A+ - Coverage A+ is a MetLife Auto & Home feature that pays to repair or replace your home without any limitation on its total replacement cost. In other words, there is no cap or limit on the amount of home insurance on your dwelling. Not available in all states or on all policy forms.

Medical Expense - If someone in your car gets hurt while on your property this coverage provides payment for medical expenses, regardless of who is at fault, up to the coverage limit.

Personal Liability – Provides coverage for bodily injury, personal injury and property damage to others which the law holds you responsible.

Personal Property - Your personal belongings are called personal property. This includes your home furnishings, your clothes, dishes, TVs, jewelry, computer, etc. Coverage for your personal property follows you and your property anywhere in the world.

Replacement Cost Coverage - Replacement cost coverage means any damaged property will be repaired or replaced without any deduction for depreciation. Unlike many companies, at MetLife Auto & Home our homeowners insurance policies provide replacement cost coverage for the dwelling at no additional charge (Note: For Mobile Home Policies Replacement Cost Coverage is available for an additional charge.) Also, Replacement Cost Coverage is available as an option for your personal property. (GrandProtect® provides Replacement Cost Coverage for personal property at no additional charge.)

*See policy  for exact terms of coverage and restrictions.
