In response to the severe storms and flooding in the Midwest, MetLife is taking steps to prevent the lapsing or cancellation of life insurance, individual disability insurance, and long term care insurance policies between May 1, 2008 and October 31, 2008 for policyowners residing in Iowa and in those counties declared disaster areas in Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri. During this time frame, we will continue to consider policies that have recently lapsed, that are lapse pending, or were placed on non-forfeiture as in force up until October 31, 2008, at which time premium payments should be resumed, including any overdue premiums.
Please note that while no penalty will be imposed and no interest will accrue, we are not waiving premium payments. The extended grace period ends on October 31, 2008. To ensure that your coverage remains in effect, please send your premium payment so that it arrives by October 31, 2008. If you have already sent us your payment, please disregard this notice.
If you have questions, or would like to discuss options or alternate payment methods, please contact your representative, or call our Customer Service Center at the appropriate toll-free telephone number below, Monday – Friday between 9am-6pm ET.
