Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provides 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year coverage for your employees in the event of severe injuries, paralysis or death resulting from accidents on or off the job.
MetLife offers AD&D coverage to help round out your employee benefit package, and several innovative features add even greater value to our products, letting you show concern for your employees' financial security while maintaining operating costs.
Basic AD&D coverage is generally employer-paid, and typically provides an accidental death benefit equal to an employee's basic term life insurance amount. Basic AD&D also provides specified percentages of an employee's accidental death benefit amount for qualifying injuries.
MetLife AD&D programs include the following plan enhancements:
Seatbelt benefit: This benefit provides an additional 10% of the AD&D benefit (minimum of $1,000 and maximum of $10,000) and is payable if the employee dies as a result of injuries sustained in an accident while driving or riding in a private passenger car and wearing a properly fastened seat belt.
Total Control Account® (TCA): The TCA Money Market Option is the standard settlement option for AD&D benefits of $5,000 or more. The TCA helps to provide financial flexibility and security to employees' beneficiaries through immediate access to, and control of, their insurance proceeds. These benefits are paid through an interest-bearing account with the principal and interest guaranteed by MetLife, with free check writing privileges.
Like most group accidental death and dismemberment insurance policies, MetLife group policies contain certain exceptions, reductions, limitations and terms for keeping them in force. Please contact us for costs and complete details.
