Helps ease management and bolster awareness of an employee benefits program
NEW YORK, September 12, 2006 – MetLife Resources announced today the launch of MetLife ComplyNow, its response to the pending federal Treasury Department 403(b) income tax regulations. MetLife ComplyNow is a simple, no-fee program that K-12 school districts can implement today to help meet current 403(b) program administration requirements, as well as those believed to be necessitated by the proposed regulations.
"Because of our strategic partnership with education organizations for more than 40 years, MetLife is uniquely positioned to help school districts resolve several administrative and management challenges," said Thomas G. Hogan, Jr., head of MetLife Resources, a division of MetLife. "As part of our overall solution designed specifically for K-12 school districts, MetLife ComplyNow addresses the major elements of the proposed regulatory changes, including a comprehensive employee communication program to increase employee awareness of the 403(b) options available at the workplace."
MetLife ComplyNow is just one part of MetLife’s suite of employee benefit solutions that can help K-12 school districts boost efficiencies and reduce costs. The complete array of services includes not only 403(b) programs, but also 457(b) plans, final pay plans, and Workplace Benefits.
MetLife ComplyNow focuses on three key areas:
- Plan Document - A 403(b) sample availability policy, which also could serve as the basis for a written plan for certain 403(b arrangements
- "Universal Availability" - An employee 403(b) communication plan that could help the district demonstrate it has provided "universal availability" for 403(b) contributions that the proposed regulations would require
- Contribution Limit Monitoring - Annual contribution limits software that may help the district meet current requirements to monitor contributions to 403(b) arrangements
The Plan Document component as well as other aspects of the program are subject to revision based on what is required under the final version of the 403(b) income tax regulations.
To supplement the communication component, a MetLife ComplyNow Web site (www.metlifecomplynow.com) will be made available to the school district and its employees. The participant portion of the site is designed to provide the employees with general information concerning a 403(b) program. The employer portion of the site enables districts to view sample documents and other communications that MetLife makes available as part of the MetLife ComplyNow program. Employers can also download software (at no cost) specifically designed to facilitate 403(b) annual contribution limit calculations.
