Legal affairs is a multi-dimensional organization made up of law departments on a corporate and subsidiary level, a government relations team and the corporate secretary’s office.  If you are working in our law department, you will find that practicing law at MetLife compares favorably with practicing at a law firm. In our corporate law department, our practice areas range from structuring corporate equity and debt offerings with associated regulatory registrations and other filings, to giving legal advice to our major lines of business––on issues  ranging from  product development, marketing, business development and Mergers Acquisitions activities to handling intellectual property, contracts, immigration and litigation matters. In addition, we provide legal counsel in the investments area with services ranging from originating mortgage loans and real estate purchases, to assisting with new corporate debt and equity investments.
