Wellness and fitness services designs and implements programs that maximize the health and well being of our employees associates to help them be productive while enabling the company to save on medical costs. Professional staff include health educators and exercise physiologists who prepare company-wide health campaigns, operate seven company fitness centers and develop health media and Web applications that enable associates to become fully informed about health issues.

The wellness and fitness team has a diverse set of skills that permit MetLife to accomplish a strategic assessment of health needs; development of company-wide health campaigns using scientific principles of health communication and behavior change; implementation of medically appropriate exercise programs that are safe and effective; and administration of  a unique wellness network comprised of lay volunteers who offer our programming in 60 dispersed sites. Wellness and fitness services partners with MetLife's internal communications group to educate associates on current health issues, and to encourage use of its programs. As part of the benefits department, team members play an important role in MetLife's long-term strategy to improve consumer health knowledge and behaviors while helping associates and dependents protect and improve their health status through healthy living.

Team members must be college graduates trained in Health Education, Exercise Physiology or a related field. We prefer to hire professionals who have earned a Masters degree in the appropriate fields. To stay current in the industry and to acquire new skills, we encourage all to be members of professional organizations and attend industry conferences. Our associates are expected to engage in management training and their own professional continuing education.
