Employee Benefits Simplifier Tool

Figuring out your workplace benefits can be confusing.  So in September MetLife launched the Employee Benefits Simplifier, a free online tool that:

  • Helps you understand and identify the benefits and coverage levels that are right for you 
  • Reinforces MetLife’s leadership in employee benefits

Anyone can use the tool, even if MetLife is not their benefits provider.  It's available at www.metlife.com/benefits.

When you use the Employee Benefits Simplifier, you first answer some basic questions about your circumstances and preferences.  The tool then presents options and explanations in an interactive format.  You can also view profiles and choices of people like you—or others in different life stages.

Choices include common employee benefits such as medical, dental, long-term disability, life insurance and retirement plans, as well as typically employee-paid benefits like long-term care insurance, critical illness insurance and legal services plans.

The Employee Benefits Simplifier addresses several key findings from MetLife's 2008 Open Enrollment Survey; among them that many employees want better information about benefits, and that employees often don’t adjust their benefits when they should.  Read the September 2008 press release that announces the tool and describes the research.

To date (January 2009) over 26,000 people have used the Employee Benefits Simplifier to help them make their benefits decisions.
