Financial Education Workshops
Our PlanSmart® financial education series workshops may be conveniently located at the workplace to make it easy for employees to attend. The practical and straightforward information provided in each workshop is designed to help employees make informed financial decisions. If employees determine they need more guidance for their situations, they have the option to meet personally with a local financial professional to discuss their specific circumstances and individual goals.
Start with a Foundation–retirewise®
A four-part workshop series, retirewise offers comprehensive retirement education for all employees—regardless of age. A broad spectrum of retirement issues is covered in these two-hour modules, including budgeting, investment principles, social security and estate planning. If employees determine they need more guidance for their situations, they have the option to meet personally with a local financial professional to discuss their specific circumstances and individual goals.
A series of four modules are offered:
Building the Foundation—In the first retirewise workshop, employees will envision the retirement they want and how they will finance it based on current and future retirement trends. The workshop covers financial basics as well as the importance of tax diversification.
Creating and Protecting Wealth—The second retirewise workshop examines how an employee may accumulate assets during working years. We look at investment strategies to manage market risk, including asset allocation, diversification, and portfolio rebalancing.
Establishing Your Retirement Income Stream—Building on what has been learned so far, the third workshop discusses how to prepare before retirement to generate income during retirement. Employees will learn how to use their assets to structure an income stream to address their wants and needs in retirement.
Making the Most of What You Have—In the final workshop, we review the benefits that you offer your employees to help provide a clear understanding of how they fit into their retirement plan. We round out the program by having employees start thinking about their legacy and review the basics of estate planning.

Special Needs Planning Workshops
While the education we provide in our workshops is relevant to all employees, some employees may require more specialized planning assistance. Three workshops are available for those employees who have dependents and/or family members with special needs. These unique workshops are designed to help employees understand the legal and financial complexities of special needs planning, helping them secure a lifetime of care and quality of life for dependents, and peace of mind for caregivers. If employees determine they need more guidance, they have the option to meet personally with a local financial professional to discuss their specific circumstances and individual goals.
Your Dependent With Special Needs: Making Their Future More Secure—This workshop is designed for caregivers of special needs dependents and covers the critical issues surrounding special needs planning. Taking steps now can help manage a loved one’s well-being today and tomorrow.
Sibling Workshop—This workshop is designed for those with a sibling with special needs. Estate Planning for a sibling with special needs takes special consideration. Taking on a role as caregiver requires planning; emotionally, financially, and legally to ensure the type of care and quality of life their sibling is accustomed to and deserves.
Family Dynamics Workshop—This workshop is designed for those who have a family member with special needs. It discusses the planning process, such as creating a team of family members and what role each person will play in their family member's future.
