MetLife launches new Family Medical Leave Decision Support Solution for Small Businesses
Keeping current with the continually-evolving statutory and regulatory environment of the federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and similar state laws can be daunting for any employer. Small businesses face their own unique challenges when it comes to navigating complex FMLA regulations and state laws -- economies of scale affect outsourcing options and limited human resource personnel are often juggling many other day-today business issues. To make it easier for small businesses to focus on core operations, MetLife today announced an innovative solution specifically for small businesses, FMLAssistSM. Available to employers with 50 to 999 employees with underlying long-term disability insurance coverage through MetLife, the program provides them the opportunity to help reduce the compliance burden and regulatory risks associated with Family and Medical Leave (FML) decision-making.

MetLife study finds disability income insurance a valuable companion for singles wanting to protect their income – May 2011
Nearly two-thirds (63%) of full-time workers who are primary wage earners and not married are very concerned about having enough money to pay bills during a period of sudden income loss, according to MetLife’s 9th Annual Study of Employee Benefits Trends. Despite this concern, however, nearly 60% of these single workers have no disability insurance to protect their income in the event an illness or injury prevents them from working.
