2nd Annual Comparison of Pension Risk Behavior IndexSM Study Findings in Both Countries
MetLife in the US and MetLife Assurance Limited in the UK commission annual research of defined benefit pension plans, in their respective countries, to assess the current state of risk management.
In both countries, the challenging global economic environment is making plan risk management exceedingly difficult. This second annual comparison of the Pension Risk Behavior IndexSM study results from each country reveals how attitudes toward pension risk management have changed year-over-year, and highlights areas for action.
The notable findings include:
- Respondents in both countries are taking a more selective approach to pension risk prioritization, concentrating on a core set of risk factors
- There are quite a few similarities among risk factors deemed most important, but with different drivers
- Respondents in the US and UK share a similar perspective of self-reported success in pension risk management
- Misalignment of “importance” and “success” exists for some risk factors, but they are unique to each country
