Administrative opportunities exist in all areas of MetLife. Such positions are vital to the inner workings of our business. It allows each department to ensure a high, efficient level of service while seamlessly moving closer to our goal of building financial freedom for everyone. These positions include: Secretaries, Operators, General Clerks, Research Assistants, Support Assistants, Business Analysts/Consultants, Operations Analysts, Installation Specialists, and Data Support Assistants. Each relates to their administrative functions according to their area of business and often act as the 'glue' that holds a particular department together. One example is the role of business consultants performing as liaisons to IT on the business side and standing out for their analytic contributions.

An administrative position allows educated and skilled workers to closely learn the ins-and-outs of a particular business department. It can serve as a good springboard to other areas of opportunity within MetLife. Classes in computers and business effectiveness, offered by MetLife's Learning & Development Group, ensure that one's skills constantly evolve. The organizational function of every administrative person makes such positions indispensable and highly valued.

As a team, the clinicians at MetLife work with case managers, claimants, physicians, employers, and customers daily to ensure optimal recovery, educate on medical and disability issues, and develop medically appropriate, safe, return to work plans.

Our goal is to accurately assess the claimant's medical condition, the impact of the condition on their functional ability and their return to work prognosis. Our clinicians intervene to positively impact a successful return to work by recommending, educating and negotiating with all parties for any necessary workplace accommodations. While we do not dictate or arrange treatment, the clinician may make recommendations as to an appropriate duration of disability for a particular medical condition, or they may medically manage and intervene on a claim with the goal of return to work.

This group is primarily made up of the following positions: nurse consultants, vocational rehabilitation consultants, psychiatric clinical specialists and internal physician consultants. Relevant degrees and licenses are required along with 3-5 years of related clinical experience. Clinicians benefit from flexible work arrangements including a Monday - Friday first shift work schedule.

Continuing education is of vital importance to the disability department.  MetLife not only supports employees in pursuit of their learning goals including tuition reimbursement for related education, but also offers frequent in-house training and seminars on medical, disability and business-related topics.  We are a high performance based environment, meaning that expectations and goals are made clear, training and tools are provided to help employees meet their goals, and recognition is given to high performers.  One such recognition is demonstrated in our annual incentive plan and can be considered an important part of MetLife's total compensation package.

Making significant decisions that affect an individual's financial and protection planning requires a professional who possesses good judgment, business acumen and sound analytical skills. These skills and competencies are needed to identify and calculate the risk of loss from policyholders, establish appropriate premium rates and write policies that cover these risks. In making these determinations, the underwriter acts as the main link between the insurance carrier and the insurance agent/broker. Most underwriters specialize in one of three major categories of insurance:  life, health, or property and casualty.

MetLife underwriters understand that their work is not just about calculating numbers. Behind every strategy and action they take are people who will be affected by their decisions. For this reason, we encourage our underwriters to apply both their life and business experience to their decision-making. Given MetLife's global reach, an international perspective is always valuable in understanding a customer's unique needs. Additionally, we seek people who are flexible and creative strategic thinkers. Underwriting can be a rewarding career for anyone who enjoys analyzing complex and detailed information. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as much of the underwriter's work involves building relationships with agents and other insurance professionals. Many of our entry-level underwriters come to us with a degree in business administration or finance, others with courses or experience in accounting.
