Institutional Leadership Development Program
MetLife’s Leadership Development Program is designed to identify and train future leaders for a rewarding career within the company. This challenging three year rotational program combines demanding work experience with an accelerated professional skills learning curriculum, while providing broad exposure to different areas of MetLife’s U.S. Business.

Leadership Development Associates are sponsored by a Line of Business within MetLife’s U.S. Business, and are expected to fill a future leadership role within the sponsoring business area. To prepare Associates for leadership careers, the program provides a structured three year curriculum that focuses on core leadership competencies and skills through four development tracks:
1. Career Management/Accountability: includes career management, Performance Management and Development Planning
2. Experience: three one-year rotational business assignments and real world experiences, that prepare the Associate for a leadership career following graduation
3. Business Knowledge: cross-organizational learning to provide a broad understanding of MetLife, its products and services, and the marketplace
4. Professional Skills: the “soft skills” that transcend job functions and drive success in today’s business environment
The Leadership Development Program seeks to attract diverse talents of all backgrounds. Candidates share the common characteristics of being passionate and highly motivated individuals who have the desire to learn continuously and positively impact MetLife’s business and associates.
Qualifications
• 3-5 years experience working with an Insurance or Financial Institution
• Four-year undergraduate college degree required, with strong academic record
• Specific business experience as may be required by sponsoring Line of Business
• Ability to thrive in a face-paced, demanding, flexible environment
• Ability to travel and potentially relocate
• Positive, enthusiastic approach to work and partnerships
• Exceptional verbal/written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to partner and develop relationships
• High learning agility and customer focus (internal/external)
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Appreciates and values difference; promotes MetLife’s key values
• Internal candidates require a strong endorsement from a leader within their current LOB.
• External candidates may submit an endorsement from prior employer, university professor, or community leader.
