The following financial education workshops are offered through the MetLife PlanSmart^SM series:

retirewise^®
As a foundation to the PlanSmart^SM workshop series, retirewise offers comprehensive retirement education for all employees—regardless of age. This four-part program can play a fundamental role in your basic financial and retirement planning. A broad spectrum of retirement issues are covered in these two-hour modules, including budgeting, investment principles, social security and estate planning. After the workshops series is complete, you have the option to meet personally with a financial professional to discuss your specific circumstances and individual goals.

retirewise Workshop Details

Building the Foundation - In the first in a series of the retirewise workshops, you will envision the retirement you want and how to finance it based on current and future retirement trends. The workshop covers financial basics as well as the importance of tax diversification.
Creating and Protecting Wealth - The second workshop in the series examines how you may accumulate assets during working years. We look at investment strategies to manage market risk, including asset allocation, diversification, and portfolio rebalancing.
Establishing Your Retirement Income Stream - Building on what you have learned so far, the third workshop will discuss how to prepare before retirement to generate income during retirement. You’ll learn how to use your assets to structure an income stream to address your wants and needs in retirement.
Making the Most of What You Have - In the final workshop, we review the benefits from your employer to help provide a clear understanding of how they fit into your retirement plan. We round out the program by having you start thinking about your legacy and review the basics of estate planning.

Our one-hour Topical Workshops offer a range of education opportunities on an ongoing basis. Sibling Workshop—This workshop is designed for those with a sibling with special needs. Estate Planning for a sibling with special needs takes special consideration. Taking on a role as caregiver requires planning; emotionally, financially, and legally to ensure the type of care and quality of life their sibling is accustomed to and deserves.
Family Dynamics Workshop—This workshop is designed for those who have a family member with special needs. It discusses the planning process, such as creating a team of family members and what role each person will play in their family member's future.

If you are experiencing a change in your life insurance benefits due to retirement, leaving employment voluntarily or involuntarily, or experiencing a reduction in coverage, this program provides the support you need to make informed decisions about your life insurance needs.

The program provides access to a MetLife financial professional, who can provide one-on-one support with important, time-sensitive benefit and financial decisions, including information on:

Delivering The Promise^® Program Details

Our qualified specialists are on hand to help with the following:

Filing life insurance claims and filing for government benefits - A Specialist will be available to answer any questions on the policy, assist in completing claim forms and contact any relevant government agencies, for example, the Social Security Administration or Veterans Administration.
Assistance with locating grief counseling and support resources - Different types of emotions and certain factors—such as the cause and time of death and cultural attitudes or customs surrounding the death—may affect an individual’s grieving process. DTP Specialists are trained on all of these factors and will respond appropriately.
Assistance with identifying important issues - There are many details that need to be addressed after the death of a loved one. Our specialists can help beneficiaries identify any outstanding documents, titles, deeds or assets that may need to be updated.
Guidance in planning for current and future financial needs - Our specialists’ primary focus is to deliver the proceeds of the policy to the beneficiary and provide the beneficiary with compassionate assistance as he or she decides how to use the funds. As financial services representatives, the specialists can conduct a fact-finding needs analysis and solution design.
