As the second phase to Housing for the 55+ Market: Trends and Insights on Boomers and Beyond, this study includes two surveys: one that examines current consumer preferences and home buying decisions and a second of National Association of Home Builder (NAHB) members involved in 55+ housing in 2008 and 2009.
A new look at the data from 55+ housing study comparing 55-64 year olds and those 65+ reveals:
55 – 64 year olds want services like home maintenance and repair for their next home as well as services usually connected to older householders, such as housekeeping, on-site healthcare and transportation.
65+ expressed a stronger preference for a single story floor plan or one with a first floor master bedroom.
55 – 64 year olds showed more interest in technology features.
