Frans Hijkoop is Chief Human Resources Officer for MetLife, a global insurance and employee benefits company with approximately 65,000 associates and 100 million customers. He is responsible for managing MetLife’s human resources strategy. His expertise areas include organizational transformation and effectiveness, talent management, succession planning, and executive compensation.
Before joining MetLife in 2011, Hijkoop held a number of human resources leadership roles at PepsiCo, including as Chief Human Resources Officer for all of PepsiCo’s international markets. From 2004 to 2007, he served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Lloyds TSB in London. He also worked for Mobil and Unilever in the early stages of his international career.
Hijkoop serves on the Board of Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization which produces Sesame Street. Sesame’s mission is to help children around the world grow smarter, stronger, and kinder. He chairs the Personnel & Compensation Committee and is also a member of the Nominating & Governance Committee as well as the Executive Committee.
Hijkoop also serves as a Director on the Board of the MetLife Foundation. MetLife Foundation has a proud history of supporting a wide range of philanthropic causes globally. Financial inclusion and medical research are among the organization’s key focus areas.
Hijkoop earned an M.A. degree from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He is a member of the Human Capital Advisory Panel and Global HR Council of the Conference Board. He is also a regular guest lecturer at the Industrial and Labor Relations School at Cornell University.
