METLIFE INVESTS MORE THAN $10 BILLION IN PRIVATE PLACEMENTS IN 2010

(NYSE: MET) announced today that it invested, through its private securities group, $10.4 billion in corporate debt private placements, project financings and lease equity investments in 2010. The company has invested in the private placement business for more than 80 years and, at $43 billion, has one of the largest private securities portfolios globally.
