METLIFE EXPANDS TRAVEL ASSISTANCE TO MAKE BOTH BUSINESS AND PLEASURE TRIPS EASIER FOR WORKERS

NEW YORK, NY – August 16, 2011 – MetLife, the largest U.S. life insurer and a leading provider of employee benefits, announced today, in conjunction with its partner AXA Assistance USA, Inc., an enhanced group Travel Assistance program which now includes concierge services and web site access to important pre-trip and travel information. Travel Assistance, administered by AXA, is an optional feature available with MetLife’s Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) products and Business Travel Accident (BTA) insurance – all part of MetLife’s comprehensive portfolio of group life products. Employees may use Travel Assistance when traveling more than 100 miles from home, domestically or internationally, regardless of whether their travel is business or personal. These new features are available immediately for new business and current customers on renewal of their group policy and include services employees can use as part of their everyday lives.

Employees now have web access to pre-trip information including security alerts, immunizations, visa requirements, currency, weather, etiquette and important local phone numbers. Whether at home or while traveling, employees can access the web site for local information on their destination such as entertainment, medical and professional services.

With the new concierge services, employees can obtain, among other items:

  • Restaurant, shopping, hotel and airline recommendations / reservations
  • Sporting, theater, night life and event information, recommendations and tickets
  • Destination transport (rental car / limousine, etc.) information and reservations
  • Golf course information, referrals, recommendations and tee times
