The Preferred Dentist Program, our dental preferred provider organization1 (PPO) product, is the foundation upon which we have built a wide range of dental options.
A Thoughtful Approach to Plan Design
Dental Plan Design: Through our thoughtful, practical, consultative approach to plan design, we can help employers increase the value of their dental benefit plans in ways that meet their goals. We accomplish this by integrating current market trends, clinical research and treatment protocols into our standard plans – providing coverage for services employees want and need. Consider these examples.
Choice of Dental Providers: Broad national networks mean greater access and less disruption for plan participants. Participants can also choose to go outside the network and still receive benefits, though out-of-pocket expenses may be greater.
Network Dental Fees: All participating dentists agree to accept negotiated fees as payment in full for all covered services provided. Negotiated dental fees are typically 15% to 45% below community average charges. Plus, when visiting network dentists, negotiated fees may extend to non-covered services and services provided after the annual benefit maximum has been exceeded.3
Dental Quality Program: The Quality Initiatives Program helps ensure that participants and dentists have access to information and tools that can help them make the most of their relationship with MetLife. For employers, delivering the right resources and education may potentially help lower benefit costs over time,4 minimize employee "noise" and cultivate a workforce that sees real value in their dental benefits program.
Dental Plan Administration: We continue to streamline and improve the benefits delivery process, enhancing employee satisfaction and making it easier to administer your dental benefit plans in a more efficient and cost-effective manner. Our goal is to create a “quiet” plan to give you more time to focus on other priorities.

2Savings from enrolling in a dental benefits plan will depend on various factors, including the cost of the plan, how often participants visit the dentist and the cost of services rendered.
3Negotiated fees refer to the fees that participating dentists have agreed to accept as payment in full, for services rendered by them. Negotiated fees are subject to change. Negotiated fees for non-covered services may not apply in all states.
4By educating participants on the benefits of slowing the progression of oral disease or preventing the occurrence of new disease, more costly procedures may potentially be avoided - potentially lowering costs over time.
Like most benefit programs, benefit programs offered by MetLife and its affiliates contain certain exclusions, exceptions, waiting periods, reductions of benefits, limitations and terms for keeping them in force. Please contact MetLife for complete details.
