If you want to help lead the way for a premier financial services team that touches the lives of 100 million people, our actuarial programs can prepare you to be a future leader of MetLife. With nearly 500 actuaries (credentialed and students) in the U.S. and over 600 others across more than 35 countries, MetLife is one of the largest employers of actuaries in the world.

 

In our full-time rotation program in the U.S., we will train you for executive-level assignments and assist you in preparing for the actuarial exams, while you complete three 2-year rotations, on average, within core areas of MetLife’s business. Working alongside many of the best in our industry, you’ll build invaluable networks with encouraging mentors and teammates who will challenge you to exceed your goals.

After completing your rotations, you’ll have the opportunity to explore new roles from across MetLife or become an expert within one specialty, all while building on your talents with the backing, strength and stability of one world-class company.

Who We Look For
  • Major in actuarial science, mathematics or math-related sciences
  • 3.3 cumulative grade point average
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and computer skills
  • Credit for actuarial exam P (Probability)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and leadership qualities
  • Commitment to attaining the professional designation of Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
 

 

Our Summer Internships in the U.S. offer current students ten- to twelve-week assignments in real-world actuarial functions, gaining hands-on experience and networking with peers and MetLife leadership, while gaining exposure to leading experts.

MetLife’s growing Actuarial needs have given rise to over a dozen unique actuarial development programs around the world. These programs provide support to help our actuaries become qualified through various international actuarial organizations. They also offer our actuaries additional professional development opportunities. In the spirit of operating as ONE MetLife, we’re strengthening our actuarial community and enhancing our ability to communicate with actuarial colleagues across the globe. Here’s how:

  • The MetLife Actuarial Conference in the U.S. annually hosts over 350 actuaries with many participants attending from global regions. The conference sessions address emerging issues and other areas of interest to our actuaries.
  • In 2014, MetLife held its first Americas Actuarial Conference which brought together over 60 actuaries from the US and Latin America to collaborate on projects and issues most relevant to the Americas region.
  • The Summer Presentation Series is a program of 12 live webinars/video conference presentations made by MetLife subject matter experts and provides a basic understanding of our products and key actuarial functions. This program, originally created for the U.S. summer interns, has been expanded to include participation from actuarial employees in many international regions.
