Managing Your Benefits in 2010

Important changes for 2010 to MetLife Benefit programs were announced this fall. Please make use of the resources noted below to understand these changes and how they may impact you and your benefit decision-making for 2010.

For the MetLife Savings and Investment Plan (SIP) in 2010, there will be changes to the core investment funds, an increase in the limit of fund transfers/reallocations (from two to four per month) and the addition of fund-specific withdrawals from the Fixed Income Fund. These changes are detailed in the letter mailed in mid-November to SIP participants, and at year-end they will be reflected on the Your Retirement Benefits Web site, which also provides a wealth of information about how SIP and the Retirement Plan work. Questions about these changes or about your MetLife retirement benefits in general that are not addressed by these communications can be directed to the Retirement Benefits Service Center at 1-800-677-5678; Service Representatives are available between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except on holidays; and the automated telephone system is available 24 hours a day Monday through Saturday and after 1 p.m., Eastern Time, on Sunday.

Participants in the MetLife Choices and Health Care Choices health and welfare benefit programs also received communications regarding 2010 plan changes in October in their Open Enrollment mailing. The MetLife Retiree Service Center (MRSC) Web site, at http://www.mymetlifebenefitsonline.com/ (select “Life and Health Benefits” and log in), provides access to important resources, including the MetLife Choices Enrollment Guide and Reference Guide (which describe the 2010 plan changes), the Summary Plan Descriptions (for additional benefit plan details), the Forms Library and links to other helpful Web sites such as Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Express Scripts and Medicare.
