Taras Shumelda

Taras Shumelda is a portfolio manager, Equities Fundamental, at MetLife Investment Management (MIM). Taras joined MIM in December 2025, in connection with the acquisition of PineBridge Investments by MIM.

Most recently at PineBridge, Taras was responsible for contributing to the management of the firm’s Global Emerging Market, Emerging Europe, and Global Focus strategies. Prior to PineBridge, Taras served as senior investment analyst – Emerging Markets at Ashmore, where he covered Emerging Europe and Africa as a generalist, as well as Emerging Market Oil and Gas as a specialist for the firm’s $4 bn in GEM strategies. 

Prior to Ashmore, Taras was as a senior international analyst at American Century Investments, where he was responsible for coverage of EMEA and Latin America.

Taras holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Mansfield University and a Master of Science in business administration from Bucknell University. He is also fluent in Ukrainian and Russian.
