METLIFE NAMED ‘WORLD’S MOST ADMIRED’ LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY ACCORDING TO FORTUNE MAGAZINE

MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET) has earned the top spot among life and health insurers on Fortune magazine’s list of the “World’s Most Admired Companies.” MetLife rose from No. 2 last year and No. 5 in 2013.

The “World’s Most Admired Companies” list is a definitive report card on corporate reputations, according to Fortune. To compile the rankings, Fortune measures corporate reputation and performance on nine key attributes: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products and services, and global competitiveness. The survey was fielded in November and December 2014 among more than 4,000 executives, directors, and securities analysts.

“Being named No. 1 in our sector on Fortune’s ‘Most Admired’ list is recognition of MetLife’s place as the leading global life insurance and employee benefits company,” said MetLife Chairman, President and CEO Steven A. Kandarian. “This recognition belongs to MetLife’s 65,000 employees for all they do to deliver value to our customers and shareholders.”

MetLife has shown similarly strong gains in rankings of corporate social responsibility (CSR). After the company’s most recent CSR report was published in September 2014, the company rose from 10th to second place on Bloomberg’s sector rankings of Environmental, Social and Governance performance.
