Enrollment is available during Annual Enrollment, at new hire enrollment or due to a qualifying life event, to U.S. based Boeing Employees who work more than 19 hours a week, except for those represented by IAM 751 and W24, IAM 837 and IBEW 1 (based on the terms of current applicable collective bargaining agreement). Boeing Aerospace Operations, Adient Aerospace, LLC, Aurora Flight Sciences, Boeing EnCore Interiors, LLC, Boeing Intelligence & Analytics, Inc., ForeFlight LLC, Insitu Inc., Liquid Robotics, Millennium Space Systems, Tapestry Solutions, Montana Aviation Research, Wisk Aerospace LLC employees are not eligible. To be covered, you must be an active employee when the policy becomes effective.

Even the best medical and disability income plans can leave you with extra expenses to pay or services that just aren’t covered. Things like medical plan deductibles and copays, or extra costs for out-of-network care. And if you’re out of work because of a disability, it might be that only some of your income is protected. Many people may not be prepared to handle these extra costs, so having this extra financial support when the time comes may mean less worry for you and your family. The Critical Illness insurance is meant to be a supplemental benefit to your medical plan, accidental death and dismemberment plan, and business travel accident plan.
Yes. Your critical illness coverage is guaranteed,4 regardless of your health if you enroll during annual enrollment, new hire enrollment or due to a qualifying life event. If you elect coverage you need to be an active eligible U.S. Boeing employee as of January 1 when the policy becomes effective. There are no medical exams to take and no health questions to answer, so the whole process might be easier than you first thought.
Your plan pays an additional benefit (Recurrence Benefit5) if a medical condition reoccurs for: a Heart Attack, Stroke, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Full Benefit Cancer, and Partial Benefit Cancer. A recurrence benefit is only available if the initial benefit has already been paid for the covered condition. And there is a benefit suspension period (or waiting period) between recurrences.5
Benefits will be paid directly to you. There’s no need to coordinate with any other insurance you may have. Benefits are paid at the same level no matter what your other insurance plans may cover.
Yes. This coverage is portable, meaning you can take it wherever you go.6 Generally, your coverage will only end if you stop paying your premium.6
The Accident Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance, Hospital Indemnity Insurance benefits are payable when treatment and services are provided in the United States, Canada or Mexico.
In order for a Critical Illness claim to be paid the diagnosis must be made after the coverage begin date. MetLife does encourage claim submission though so our claims team can review and determine if it is payable.
Premiums will be paid through payroll deduction on an after-tax basis.
Yes, these plans are not disqualifying health plans. Employees who are enrolled in the Advantage+ plan and elect(ed) the HSA will continue to be eligible to make or receive contributions to their HSA at HealthEquity.

1 Please review the Disclosure Statement or Outline of Coverage/Disclosure Document for specific information about cancer benefits. Not all types of cancer are covered. Some cancers are covered at less than the Initial Benefit Amount. For NH-sitused cases and NH residents, there is an initial benefit of $100 for All Other Cancer. In certain states, the Covered Condition is Severe Stroke. The Heart Attack Covered Condition pays a benefit for the occurrence of a myocardial infarction, subject to the terms of the certificate. A myocardial infarction does not include sudden cardiac arrest.

METLIFE CRITICAL ILLNESS INSURANCE (CII) IS A LIMITED BENEFIT GROUP INSURANCE POLICY. Like most group accident and health insurance policies, MetLife’s CII policies contain certain exclusions, limitations and terms for keeping them in force. Product features and availability may vary by state. The plan may include a pre-existing condition exclusion. After a covered condition occurs, there is a benefit suspension period during which benefits will not be paid for a recurrence, except in the case of individuals covered under a New York certificate. MetLife offers CII with either Attained Age or Issue Age rates. Attained Age rates are based on 5-year age bands and will increase when a Covered Person reaches a new age band. MetLife’s Issue Age CII is guaranteed renewable, and may include a Benefit Reduction Due to Age provision. Premium rates for MetLife’s Issue Age CII are based on age at the time of the initial coverage effective date and will not increase due to age; premium rates for increases in coverage, including the addition of dependents’ coverage, if applicable, will be based on the covered person’s age at the time of the initial coverage effective date. Rates are subject to change for MetLife’s Issue Age CII on a class-wide basis.
