MetLife provides access to a variety of collective investment trust solutions which offer commingled separate account products structured to fit plans of most any size.
By allowing plans to pool their assets, collective investment trusts provide those plans with access to the same benefits offered to plan sponsors purchasing large institutionally priced stable value solutions.
We partner with trust companies to provide solutions that meet the needs of your plan sponsor clients. Our team can provide you with access to collective investment trust solutions that invest fully in MetLife commingled separate accounts.

The Met Managed GIC is a separate account stable value solution which combines the benefit responsive feature of a traditional GIC – guarantee of principal and interest and book value accounting– with added investment flexibility, transparency and security in one comprehensive package.
Individually managed accounts, utilizing one or more investment strategies, can be created to meet a fund's specific requirements. For our largest clients, we offer flexibility and choice in both the underlying asset management and the investment guidelines.
Met Managed GIC assets are held in separate accounts of MetLife. These separate account assets are protected from the claims of MetLife's general creditors, and MetLife's general account policyholders, under New York State Insurance Law.
Traditional GIC products have been a key component of stable value investing since they were first introduced in the 1970s. The Traditional GIC's stability, benefit responsiveness, attractive returns, and relative simplicity compared to other stable value structures continue to fulfill the needs of stable value managers, plan sponsors and participants.
Buyers of a traditional GIC can lock in a competitive rate of return for the life of the contract. The amounts that fund participant balances are guaranteed, up to the contract's full book value, by MetLife.
A traditional GIC typically offers a set maturity date along with a fixed interest rate. The rate is established at the time the contract is sold and will not change during the term of the contract. Because the rate is unaffected by fluctuations in market interest rates, asset values or participant-initiated withdrawals, buyers of a traditional GIC have the assurance of a guaranteed rate.
A traditional GIC is reported at book value when used in a participant-directed stable value option. MetLife also provides a Fair Value calculation of the investment contract in order to assist clients with their reporting requirements.
