Hugues Rinfret, CFA, FRM is a Director in the Research & Valuations team. Rinfret's primary responsibilities include management of the Agricultural Research & Portfolio Risk projects.
Rinfret joined MetLife in 2005 and is responsible for market forecasting, underwriting support as well as loss projections, stress testing, and monitoring of exposure concentration limits and market benchmarks relevant to the Agricultural Investments portfolio, which ranges from production agriculture to agribusiness and timberland investments. He has over 20 years of experience in agricultural market research in both the consulting and financial industries. Rinfret has authored articles in industry publications and has produced quarterly newsletters addressing current market and policy issues.
After graduating from McGill University in Montreal with a B.Sc. (Agr) and M.Sc. (Agricultural Economics), Rinfret spent four years with consulting firm IHS Global Insight in Philadelphia. He later joined the Agribusiness team at SunTrust bank in Atlanta, developing analytical capabilities to enhance market research and portfolio risk management. He also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation, and grew up on a dairy and cash crop farm near Montreal, Canada.
