Thomas L. Coakley
Head of the Atlanta Regional Office
Thomas L. Coakley is a Director and Head of the Atlanta Regional Office. He is responsible for the $3 billion debt and equity real estate operations and investments in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee North Carolina and South Carolina. Under his management, the Atlanta Regional Office has completed over 75 transactions valued at over $4 billion. Mr. Coakley joined MetLife in 1987 and has held a number of management positions in real estate. From 2003 to 2006, he was Director of Operations Risk and also led the $3 billion integration effort of Travelers' real estate portfolio. Previously, Mr. Coakley was a Director in the Equity Portfolio unit where he participated in the restructuring of the $10 billion equity portfolio after MetLife converted to a publicly traded company. He received a BA from the University of Florida, an MBA from West Florida and a MArch and MS in City Planning from Georgia Institute of Technology. Mr. Coakley is a Licensed Architect and member of the AIA and REIAC. In addition, he is a retired Colonel USAF Reserve, where he served 30 years as a senior pilot, civil engineer and Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer to FEMA.
