Policy Finder FAQs
What does the Life Insurance Policy Finder do?

This tool can help you find a policy you may have forgotten about, or with a legacy that a loved one may have provided for you.

What types of policies does it look for?

This tool will search through records currently on our database of individual life insurance policies. It does not search group life policies (i.e, policies provided through employment).

What does MetLife do with unclaimed policies?

We try to locate the rightful owners or beneficiaries. But we're not always successful. After a period of time, we're required by law to turn unclaimed funds over to the state (called "escheatment"). Ultimately, MetLife does not keep unclaimed policy proceeds.

What if the Insured I searched for isn't found?

Try modifying your search (how?). But it could be that no MetLife policy existed for them. It's also possible that the policy proceeds were already paid under the policy or that the policy proceeds were already escheated to the state (see above). Check with the unclaimed funds website for your state or your loved one's state.
