Michel A. Khalaf is President and Chief Executive Officer of MetLife, Inc., a leading global financial services company providing insurance, employee benefits, retirement solutions and asset management to over 120 million customers in more than 40 markets worldwide. He oversees a team of 45,000 employees united around helping individuals, families, and institutions build more confident futures.
Since becoming President and CEO in 2019, Khalaf has led MetLife through a period of sustained performance and strategic evolution. Under his leadership, the company exceeded every financial commitment set in its five-year Next Horizon strategy, driven by disciplined execution and a sharp focus on delivering value to customers, shareholders, employees, and communities. Building on that momentum, he introduced New Frontier in 2024—MetLife’s next strategic chapter—focused on leveraging the company’s scale, diversification, distribution capabilities, and technology to drive strong growth, attractive returns, and all-weather performance.

Before becoming CEO, Khalaf held senior leadership roles for MetLife across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He joined MetLife in 2010 as CEO of the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region when the company acquired Alico. Prior to MetLife, Khalaf spent more than two decades at Alico, where he led businesses around the world, including Poland, Romania, the Baltics, the Caribbean, France, Italy, the Philippines, and Egypt. He began his career as an investment officer at Alico headquarters.
Khalaf serves on the boards of the U.S.-China Business Council, the Geneva Association, and the Partnership for New York City. He holds a B.S. in engineering and an M.B.A. in finance from Syracuse University.
