Even if you don’t wear glasses or contacts, regular visits to your eye doctor may help contribute to your overall health by potentially catching serious problems, such as diabetes and high blood pressure.1

You can enroll during the following:

  • Within 60 days of your date of hire or a qualifying life event, i.e. marriage, birth of a child.
  • During the annual fall open enrollment period, October 30 – November 17, 2023

Eyeglasses and routine eye exams can be more expensive than you may think. With Davis Vision by MetLife, you can save up to $361 a year on eye exams and eyewear.3

You can go to any licensed eye care professional. Choose from thousands of participating professionals at private practices or popular retail locations,4 such as Costco Optical, Walmart Vision, Sam’s Club Optical and more.5 Enjoy lower out-of-pocket costs when visiting a participating vision care provider.

Or visit online in-network eyewear stores, including Glasses.com, Befitting.com, 1 800 contacts and Visionworks.com.5

If you choose an out-of-network provider, you will have increased out-of-pocket expenses, pay in full at the time of services, and need to file a claim with MetLife for reimbursement.

Choose the eyewear that’s right for you and your budget. Take advantage of a selection of fully covered frames at no additional cost to you, plus get access to the Davis Vision Exclusive Collection, with coverage on designer frames at no cost and a one-year breakage warranty.

Our Davis Vision Exclusive Collection includes 222 designer, fashion and premier frames from brands including FILA, Jones New York, Oscar by Oscar de la Renta and Perry Ellis5 with new styles added every year.

Routine eye exams, frames and lenses are available with your plan at competitive group rates. Your plan also offers lens enhancement options including, but not limited to, polycarbonate (shatter-resistant) lenses, ultraviolet (UV) coating, scratch-resistant and anti-reflective coatings, and progressive lenses.

Your plan includes a discount on laser vision correction up to 50%.2 Plus, you can get a hearing exam at no additional cost and a discount up to 40% off hearing aids.6

  • MyBenefits: You can access your vision program on Cornell MyBenefits.  On MyBenefits, you can use the Find a Vision Provider Tool, see claims history and access a digital ID card.

If you’re already enrolled in Cornell’s vision plan, you do not have to take any enrollment action and your current vision benefits will remain in effect for 2024. However, if you want to add or remove an eligible dependent for the new plan year, you must make that plan change during open enrollment.

Securely register on Metlife's MyBenefits website to view your new claims occurring on or after January 1, 2024, print your digital ID card, review information about your plan and more.

You do not need an ID card to schedule an appointment or receive services from a participating network provider. When obtaining services, provide your name and date of birth and let your provider know that your plan uses the Davis Vision network.

While ID cards aren’t required, digital ID cards are available by registering on the MyBenefits site at Cornell MyBenefits or by viewing ID cards on the MetLife mobile app. You can also request new cards by calling 833-Eye-Life (1-833-393-5433). When obtaining services, let them know that your plan uses the Davis Vision network.
