Terms you should know

Here are a few important terms to understand:

  • Basic AD&D Full Amount – The total benefit paid if a covered loss qualifies for 100% payout.
  • Maximum Basic AD&D Benefit – The highest amount your plan will pay.
  • Schedule of Covered Losses – A table that lists specific injuries or losses (e.g., loss of life, limbs, sight, or coma) and the percentage of the full benefit payable for each.

Please note, your plan may include additional options tailored to your employer. For full definitions and details, refer to your Schedule of Benefits or Certificate of Insurance. To obtain your specific Schedule of Benefits or Certificate, contact your employer or our Customer Service team.

Schedule of Covered Losses

Also important in your AD&D Schedule of Benefits is the Schedule of Covered Losses, sometimes called the dismemberment schedule. The Schedule of Covered Losses is a detailed chart that outlines the specific injuries or conditions that qualify for benefits and the percentage of the full amount of the policy’s principal sum that will be paid out for each.

For example, if your AD&D benefit is $100,000 and the Covered Loss Percentage is 20%, then the policy will pay out $20,000.

Please note, your plan may include additional options tailored to your employer. For full definitions and details, refer to your Schedule of Benefits or Certificate of Insurance. To obtain your specific Schedule of Benefits or Certificate, contact your employer or our Customer Service team.

All amounts listed are stated as percentages of the Full Amount.
