HYATT LEGAL PLANS CELEBRATES 30TH ANNIVERSARY, ACHIEVES HISTORIC MILESTONES

Hyatt Legal Plans, a MetLife® company and the nation’s largest provider of group legal plans, celebrates its 30th anniversary on November 1, 2007.  This year also marks another major milestone for the organization as the number of Hyatt Legal Plans customers has grown significantly.  Today, Hyatt Legal Plans is offered by 1,000 legal plan sponsors and 104 of the FORTUNE 500©* companies.

“We’re extremely proud to be celebrating 30 years of service to millions of Americans,” said Bill Brooks, CEO of Hyatt Legal Plans. “Our management team and associates have made significant contributions to the company’s success, as have the plan sponsors and plan attorneys with whom we have developed strong relationships over the years.  Our company has come a long way in the last 30 years, and we look forward to providing many more years of outstanding service.”

The Hyatt organization was founded in 1977 as a way to make quality legal services affordable and accessible for all Americans.  It quickly grew into one of the largest law firms in the U.S.  In 1981, Hyatt Legal Services implemented its first group legal plan, utilizing its attorney offices throughout the country to provide legal assistance to plan members.  Hyatt’s first group legal plan sponsors included American Express, AT&T and PepsiCo, all of which remain Hyatt legal plan sponsors today.  Hyatt Legal Plans was spun off from Hyatt Legal Services in 1990 and was acquired by MetLife in 1997. Today, Hyatt Legal Plans is the largest group legal plan provider in the country, serving nearly four million plan members and dependents at 1,000 plan sponsors, including 104 of the Fortune 500 companies.

“We are proud to be the market leader in making legal assistance affordable for many American workers for a wide range services, including the preparation of wills and estate plans, real estate transactions, tax audits, adoptions, pre-nuptial agreements, traffic violations and review of personal documents,” said Andrew Kohn, Vice President of Operations and General Counsel.  “Our success is a direct result of our commitment to providing excellent customer service to legal plan members, plan sponsors and participating law firms.”
