Top Rating from Human Rights Campaign Foundation underscores company’s commitment to LGBT Community
New York, November 26, 2012
For the tenth consecutive year, MetLife, Inc. has received a perfect score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) 2013 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The HRC’s Corporate Equality Index report provides an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.
“MetLife is proud to have again achieved a 100 percent rating on the Corporate Equality Index”, said Elizabeth Nieto, Global Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer. “At MetLife, we are committed to supporting our LGBT employees and fostering a culture of inclusion that recognizes and respects all of our workforce.”
Over the past 11 years, the CEI has become broadly recognized as the premier national benchmark for corporate and practices related to LGBT employees and workplace inclusion. This year, a total of 889 businesses were rated in the 2013 CEI, including the entire Fortune 500. To achieve a perfect score, companies must have equal employment opportunity policies, offer inclusive employment benefits, demonstrate organizational LGBT competency and ongoing commitment to LGBT-specific public engagement.
