METLIFE NAMED A 2012 WORKING MOTHER 100 BEST COMPANY FOR FOURTEENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
NEW YORK, September 18, 2012
Working Mother magazine has named MetLife, Inc. a 2012 Working Mother 100 Best Company for the fourteenth consecutive year. This list recognizes companies that do an exemplary job of advancing women and providing programs and policies that support, attract and retain working mothers.
"MetLife is honored to be recognized for the fourteenth year as one of Working Mother's '100 Best Companies,'" said Elizabeth Nieto, global chief diversity and inclusion officer at MetLife. "Our inclusion on this list is recognition of MetLife's ongoing commitment to providing a range of work-life solutions and programs that support the professional and personal needs of our employees."
MetLife is ranked highly for its benefits and workplace profile, as well as its work-life programs, which include flexible work arrangements, health and wellness offerings, back-up child care, paid time off and leaves of absence, an employee assistance program, and support for mothers and pregnant women.
"This year's 100 Best Companies are leading the way for the rest of the nation," said Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media. "They have created not only essential benefits like flexible work options and telecommuting, but have also shown their commitment in new ways like elder care referral and legal assistance to help busy parents manage their personal lives as well as their careers."
Jennifer Owens, editorial director of Working Mother Media, states, "These Best Companies know what it takes to keep all employees, but especially their employee moms, productive and engaged at work. As the stress surrounding work-life integration continues to rise, so does the opportunity for creating a win-win environment for employees and employers. The Working Mother 100 Best Companies see the payoff from their programs and policies, and are outstanding examples for companies to emulate."
MetLife was selected for the 2012 Working Mother 100 Best Companies list based on an extensive application that surveys the usage, availability and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers who oversee them. Seven areas were measured and scored for this year's 100 Best: workforce profile, benefits, women's issues and advancement, child care, flexible work, paid time off and leaves, and company culture and work life programs.
The complete list is featured in the October/November issue of Working Mother.
