METLIFE FOUNDATION AND HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCE GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP

Funding supports new home builds, repairs and renovations in several countries, including the United States, Brazil, Korea, the United Kingdom, Mexico, India and Bangladesh

MetLife Foundation announced today that it will donate $250,000 to Habitat for Humanity International to support the organization’s mission of providing safe, decent and affordable housing across the globe.
The 2014 partnership funding, along with the volunteer efforts of MetLife employees, will support new home builds, repairs and renovations in partnership with low-income families in several countries, including the United States, Brazil, Korea, the United Kingdom, Mexico, India and Bangladesh.

“Habitat for Humanity International is a leader in serving the need for safe and affordable housing around the globe,” said Dennis White, ceo and president of MetLife Foundation. “We are proud of our new global partnership, building on our 14-year relationship with Habitat that includes numerous housing builds with MetLife volunteers and through Habitat’s FlexCAP program.”

MetLife, Inc. has been an investor in Habitat’s Flexible Capital Access Program, or FlexCAP, since 1997. Habitat’s FlexCAP is a low-interest loan program available to Habitat affiliates to assist with developing and expanding access to affordable housing in their local communities.

“MetLife’s support of Habitat’s work has made it possible for us to serve many more families and transform communities in the U.S.,” said Jonathan Reckford, ceo of Habitat for Humanity International. “We are grateful for this new commitment from the MetLife Foundation that will enable Habitat to increase our impact around the world.”
