METLIFE NAMES RANDY CLERIHUE CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Jennifer Gottlieb to be Head of Global Employee Communication

MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET) today announced that Randy Clerihue has been named Chief Communications Officer.

Clerihue was previously the company’s head of Corporate Communications with responsibility for financial, executive, public policy, and corporate responsibility communications. In his new role, he will add responsibility for the company’s global communications teams in the United States, Asia, Latin America, and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

“Randy has done an outstanding job navigating complex public policy issues, telling a compelling story around our strategy, and positioning us as a corporate responsibility leader,” said MetLife Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Affairs Michael A. Zarcone. “I am confident he will be just as skilled in enabling MetLife to communicate effectively with its key stakeholders globally.”

Helping Clerihue lead MetLife’s communications function will be Jennifer Gottlieb, who will become Head of Global Employee Communication with responsibility for internal communications and employee engagement. Gottlieb and her team will continue to oversee the internal content strategy, manage all internal channels, and partner with Human Resources to maximize employee engagement. Clerihue and Gottlieb will report to Zarcone.

Clerihue joined MetLife in 2011. Previously he oversaw corporate and executive communications for NextEra Energy, a Fortune 200 clean-energy company and the world’s largest utility by market capitalization. Before that, he spent 16 years in Washington, D.C., in a variety of policy-focused communications positions. Clerihue earned his master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and his bachelor’s degree from Taylor University.

Gottlieb, a 25-year veteran of MetLife, has held a variety of roles at the company in areas including executive communication, marketing, and creative services, and served as chief of staff to a President of the company’s U.S. business. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Penn State University.

Zarcone leads Corporate Affairs while also serving as Chief of Staff to Chairman, President and CEO Steven A. Kandarian.
