Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation Partners with MetLife Pet Insurance to Support Adopters

NEW YORK, August 27, 2025 — MetLife Pet Insurance (MetLife) is proud to announce its new relationship with the Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation, supporting pet parents adopting from the
Los Angeles County Department of  Animal Care and Control’s (DACC) seven animal care centers, by offering 30 days of pet insurance coverage to every adopter. As one of the largest animal care and control agencies in the U.S., supporting more than 11,500 adoptions in fiscal year 2024-2025, this collaboration ensures pet families have the coverage and resources to care for their new pet and the protection they need to address the unexpected.

“We are thrilled to work with MetLife Pet Insurance, an industry-leading provider offering comprehensive coverage, to support new pet parents. Providing pet insurance gives potential adopters peace of mind that their new family member can have unexpected veterinary expenses covered by insurance,” said Marcia Mayeda, CAWA, Director, Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control. “Since June 2024, urban veterinary costs have increased 6%[1] and continue to rise. Providing accident and illness insurance for animals helps pet owners to better afford pet care, and avoid heartbreaking decisions based solely on cost. We see this as a win-win-win for pet families, animals, and our animal care centers.”

The collaboration is part of the Foundation’s broader mission to reduce barriers to pet ownership and prevent animals from being surrendered due to unexpected veterinary expenses. By offering this initial coverage, the Foundation and MetLife aim to build a strong financial foundation for pets and their new families.

“At MetLife Pet Insurance, our goal is to support pet parents by providing the coverage and resources they need to help their pets thrive,” said Brian Jorgensen CEO of MetLife Pet Insurance. “Partnering with the Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation is an important step in our mission to support organizations that champion animal welfare and empower pet parents.”
