MetLife’s Privacy Notice for the Talent Relationship Management (TRM) Platform.

This Privacy Notice is intended to provide you with the information regarding what personal information is collected from you by, processed by and shared with MetLife Services and Solutions. LLC (“MSS” or “we”) and its third-party provider Avature Limited (“Avature”) for the MetLife recruitment process.

In connection with recruitment services provided by Avature, MSS is the data controller and Avature is a data processor (each as applicable under data protection laws) acting on behalf of MSS in connection with processing your personal information as set out below.

Please note, that each MetLife Affiliate remains responsible for the processing of your personal data for MetLife recruitment purposes identified below

By applying on the Avature Platform, you acknowledge the collection, transfer, sharing, use and storage of your personal information by MetLife for the MetLife recruitment process as stated in this Recruitment Privacy Notice.

For clarity, references to “personal information” shall include “personal data” and any other similar terms defined under applicable privacy and data protection laws.

Avature” is the talent marketplace made accessible by MetLife, via the Avature Platform to enable MetLife (on an Enterprise-wide basis) to identify candidates that are interested and in may be suited for open positions posted by MetLife.

Your personal information collected on the Avature Platform or otherwise shared and used (processed) in connection with MetLife recruitment process, by MetLife, is processed for the following purposes (“Purposes”):

  • Identifying candidates for potential employment
  • Assessment of suitability of candidates against our job opportunities
  • Appointment of new staff
  • Verifying information (where applicable)
  • Managing human resources
  • Workforce planning
  • Managing operations
  • ensuring compliance with legal requirements, such as Fit & Proper requirements
  • ensuring compliance with diversity and inclusion requirements and practices
  • communication with applicants

Your personal information is processed for and on the bases of your consent to the processing of your personal information for the Purposes, to the extent such consent is required under applicable law.

This Recruitment Privacy Notice covers any personal information collected and used during the MetLife recruitment process, including information that you submit through the Avature Platform such as:

  • Identification Information: including full name, contact information (email, phone number and home address, data/place of birth, Nationality/visa/right to work permit information, passport, driver license, National Insurance numbers, National ID numbers.
  • Technical Identifiers: such as registration login and passwords to the Avature Platform, location, including at a region, sub region, country or city level.
  • Expectations: Details of the type of employment desired, current and/or desired salary and other terms relating to compensation and benefits packages, available start date willingness to relocate, or other job preferences.
  • Languages spoken and other relevant skills.
  • Employment background: including work history/job data; previous employers, positions, dates, etc.; Employer feedback / references to include regulated references where necessary; details of current and previous employers, positions/titles held, working locations, supervisor and reporting lines, employment status, working hours, years of relevant work experience; achievements.
  • Education background: including name and location of school attended; educational qualifications, professional qualifications, licenses, certifications, memberships, awards and/or permits obtained, and other work- related training undertaken.
  • Assessment results to psychometric tests: such as a situational judgement test, ability or personality test), interview (face to face, telephone or video), behavioral assessments (such as a role play, group exercise or presentation), technical assessment.
  • Pre-employment screening checks: such as credit history, anti- money laundering check, criminal records check only for eligible positions, where permitted under local law.
  • Compensation information: including current and expected basic salary, benefits, bonuses, details on stock options, stock grants and other awards etc.
  • Special Categories of Data: such as background and criminal checks where permitted by law; Health information such a disability when relevant for a position and permitted by law.

Please note: You should not submit the following sensitive information, unless legally required: sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, religion, beliefs, disability, marital status, creed, nationality, national origin, color and/or (unless explicitly requested). 

You are responsible for the content of the information you provide in connection with the MetLife recruitment process via the Avature Platform and you must ensure it is legal, truthful, accurate; the information provided must not mislead or infringe on any third party’s rights such that it would be legally actionable.

 

We contracted with Avature to host your personal data on the Avature Platform in connection with the MetLife recruitment process and the Purposes. You understand that your personal information is processed by Avature and shared by and transferred from Avature to MetLife, each located within the United States.

Personal information about you will only be reviewed by MetLife employees or agents who have a business need to access such personal information for the MetLife recruitment process and Purposes which may include human resources personnel, technical services personnel and managers. We may share personal information about you with selected service providers or consultants acting on our behalf. Those third parties will be bound by contract to protect any personal information they process on behalf of MetLife in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

MetLife may also disclose personal information about you in order to: (1) protect the legal rights, privacy or safety of MetLife or its employees, agents and contractors; (2) protect against fraud or other illegal activity or for risk management purposes; (3) respond to inquiries or requests from government or public authorities; (4) permit us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain; (5) enforce our policies; and/or (6) comply with applicable laws or legal process. 

MetLife may transfer information that is collected about you on the Avature Platform to third parties in the event of any change in the corporate structure of MetLife such as, but not limited to, merger, consolidation, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of MetLife’s assets or stock (including without limitation in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings). 

MetLife retains your information for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the information is collected.

Our data retention policies comply with all applicable laws and privacy legislation to which we are subject. They set out how long we are allowed to retain different types of data we hold and are reviewed on a regular basis.

In addition to using applicant data for the position for which you have applied, MetLife may retain and use your data to consider you for other positions. Unless required for tax or other legal purposes, applicant data will be retained according to local jurisdictional and regulatory requirements.

The security and confidentiality of your personal information is important to MetLife. We take reasonable precautions to safeguard the personal information shared with and stored on MetLife servers. Such safeguards include having technical, administrative, and physical security measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access and improper use. We restrict access to your personal information to those individuals who need to know that information. In addition, we train our employees about the importance of confidentiality and maintaining the privacy and security of personal information.

In certain countries, consistent with applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, transfer to a different data controller, delete or object to the processing of information that MetLife holds about you. In many countries, you have a right to lodge a complaint with the appropriate data protection authority if you have concerns about how MetLife processes your personal information.

We enter into data processing agreements, model clauses, data transfer agreements and obtain consent, where necessary and appropriate, in accordance with local privacy laws. By participating in the MetLife recruitment process, you understand that personal information about you will be transferred to Avature and to MetLife Affiliates (as the potential employer) which may be located in countries outside the country in which you reside with different and possibly less protective privacy and data protection regimes in place.

MetLife performs data transfer risk assessments in connection with the transfer and processing of personal data in a third country to assess and address that appropriate technical, contractual and organizational measures are implemented in accordance with applicable legislative requirements.

Requests to exercise your rights and/or questions related to MetLife’s processing of your personal information in connection with the Purposes should be directed to the MetLife Affiliate in your country.

Talent Community FAQs

Your personal information collected or otherwise shared and used (processed) in connection with the Talent Community by MetLife, is processed for and on the basis of your consent to the processing of your personal Information for such MetLife Purposes, to the extent such consent is required under applicable law.

The Talent Community Privacy Notice covers any personal information that MetLife processes as part of the Talent Community including: name, e-mail address, CV details (employment history and qualification information, address and contact information).

You are responsible for the content of the information you provide and you must ensure it is legal, truthful, accurate; the information provided must not mislead or infringe on any third party’s rights such that it would be legally actionable.

We contracted with Avature to host the Talent Community on the Avature platform.  By  participating in the Talent Community, you understand that your personal information is also disclosed to and processed by Avature for the MetLife Purposes.
